The Franchise
Aspray offers a FREE service to the general public, project managing building insurance claims and refurbishment schemes using local subcontractors.
Business is generated from many sources including:-
* Household insurance claims
* Private householders
* Landlords
* Local Authorities and Housing Associations
This is a highly lucrative work-from-home business where gross margins of 50% are realistically achievable and overheads are low. Although basic DIY skills are of benefit no detailed building or surveying experience is required as comprehensive training and support are provided by Aspray.
Each franchisee enjoys a territory of 150,000 householders, which gave the pilot operation a £51,000 net profit from a £350,000 turnover in its first year. Enquiries are taken centrally and appointments are made for the franchisee there is no need for cold calling. The Franchise fee is £28,000 and there is a royalty charge of 8%

The original business concept came from the basic idea of offering a refurbishment service to the buy-to-let industry. As James says: When a buy-to-let property needs attention - from just simple re-wallpapering, right through to the installation of a complete new bathroom or kitchen, up to a total refurbishment - often the landlord hasn't the time or skills to deal with it.
Aspray franchisees can project manage the entire process for those landlords.' This notion then branched out into the second service provided by Aspray: buildings insurance claims management. Says James: 'Our franchisees will deal with domestic buildings insurance claims on behalf of the general public, it's a completely free service ; customer.
